Staff Summary

•                     The Lake County Workforce Investment Board approved an incumbent worker program that calls for the Workforce Development Department to transfer up to 10% of its dislocated worker formula allocation to support necessary training programs.

•                     The agreement will be with Bennu Legal Services, located in Lake Bluff.

•                     Six Employees will receive training on a sales tool that will have advanced customized functions for its office and will teach staff competitive selling skills.

•                     The cost of training is $6,300 (Workforce Development) plus $700 (employer) for a total cost of $7,000. The cost per employee is $1,167.

RESOLUTION

                     WHEREAS, and the Lake County Workforce Investment Board has approved a five-year plan that allows ten percent of the Workforce Investment Act formula funds for dislocated workers to be used for Incumbent Worker Training as a layoff aversion strategy; and

                     WHEREAS, the Lake County Workforce Development Department wishes to enter into an agreement with Bennu Legal Services for the purpose of conducting incumbent worker training for 6 Bennu Legal Services employees; and

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Lake County Workforce Development Department is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement with Bennu Legal Services in the amount of $6,300 for the purpose of training 6 incumbent workers charging the costs thereof to account  #750-4042040-79940-000-000-000-Y2010.
