• Change orders need to be approved by the standing committees for cumulative net increases over 10%.
• The Stearns School Road Bridge project over I-94 is under an original awarded contract at bid unit prices totaling $309,905.
• Reason for the change order is the necessity of several items to properly and safely complete the intended contract.
• Location of the electrical service for the proposed bridge signals was incorrectly shown on the plans. An additional run of cable & poles were necessary to get power to the signal.
• A protective shield under the bridge was not anticipated to be necessary until one lane of the existing bridge deck overlay was removed and the need for additional patching work was discovered. The Illinois Tollway requires this protective shield if work other than just removal and replacement of the overlay is done.
• An estimated amount is also included to address the patching discovered on this stage as well as under the second lane width to be taken off in the next stage of the project.
