Resolution Reaffirming that Lake County Embraces Diversity.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lake County is committed to fostering a culture that embraces diversity and inclusion, and seeks to understand our differences and leverage the power of diverse perspectives and people in order to shape a brighter future for our communities; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board is committed to being leaders and role models in the community on issues of human dignity, equality, mutual respect, diversity and inclusion; and
WHEREAS, Lake County's diversity is a source of pride for the community, and Lake County recognizes that at every level of American society, people of all backgrounds contribute to our democracy, and strengthen our communities, culture and economy; and
WHEREAS, Lake County is committed to advancing the fundamental rights and principles upon which the United States was founded, establishing the equality and dignity of all people regardless of their background; and
WHEREAS, Lake County condemns any verbal or non-verbal attacks, harassment, or intimidation based on race, ethnicity, color, immigration or refugee status, religion or creed, gender or sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, veteran status, or other social identities, as well as discourse that disrespects or degrades people's identities, needs and beliefs; and
WHEREAS, Lake County unanimously passed a resolution on January 14, 2020 affirming that Lake County Embraces Diversity, and this commitment is hereby reaffirmed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that from our schools to our neighborhoods, from our businesses and industries to our government buildings, Lake County must be a place that respects our differences and believes that diverse perspectives create better outcomes; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Lake County continues to stand against hate and discrimination and reaffirms that Lake County is a welcoming community for all.
