Staff Summary
· The winter of 2008 required unusually high consumption of rock salt and other ice control chemicals resulting in supply shortages at inflated prices.
· There is a need to maintain an inventory of ice control chemical to accommodate the Lake County building complex in downtown Waukegan.
· In accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Facilities Manager certified an emergency condition.
· The Facilities Management Division solicited quotations from six (6) suppliers.
· Cryotech Deicing Technology, Fort Madison, IA provided the lowest responsive quotation for 400 bags of Calcium Magnesium Acetate in the amount of $26,193.
· This is to ratify an Emergency Procurement authorized by the Facilities Manager with Cryotech Deicing Technology, Fort Madison, IA in the amount of $26,193.
· The purchase was charged to account # 101-1220030-61040-031-000-000-00000.

WHEREAS, the winter of 2008 required unusually high consumption of rock salt and other ice control chemicals resulting in supply shortages at inflated prices; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to maintain an inventory of ice control chemical to accommodate the Lake County building complex in downtown Waukegan; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Facilities Manager certified that an emergency condition exists; and
WHEREAS, the Facilities Management Division solicited quotations from six (6) suppliers; and
WHEREAS, Cryotech Deicing Technology, Fort Madison, IA provided the lowest responsive quotation for 400 bags of Calcium Magnesium Acetate in the amount of $26,193.00; and
WHEREAS, the other quotations received ranged in price from $28,000.00 to $51,350.00; and
