Resolution extending the expiration date of Section 4.11, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), in the Employee Policies and Procedures manual.

 

Staff Summary

                     In May 2020, the County adopted the FFCRA to comply with federal regulations.

                     The FFCRA requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

                     Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Financial and Administrative Committee provided guidance to extend these benefits past the original expiration date of December 31, 2020 to June 30, 2021.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Lake County is committed to the safety and well-being of the employees that comprise its workforce; and

 

WHEREAS, ON March 18, 20201 federal legislation signed into law the Families First Coronavirus Response Act; and

 

WHEREAS, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) required certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19; and

 

WHEREAS, on May 12, 2021, Lake County amended the Lake County Employee Policies and Procedures Manual to comply with Federal legislation which held an expiration date of December 31, 2020; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County believes that COVID-19 continues to be a threat to safety and well-being of its employees and the residents of Lake County; and

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County Board has determined that an extension of the policy would be in the best interest of its employees.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Lake County Employee Policy, Section 4.11, Families First Coronavirus Act (FFCRA), be extended until June 30, 2021; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Human Resources Director is directed to implement this Policy retroactive to January 1, 2021.
