Staff Summary
· The existing fire alarm system for the Administrative Tower and Courts Complex, Coroner's Office, and LCDOT facilities are beyond their useful life and replacement parts are no longer available.
· The new fire alarm system will have a visual notification and voice annunciation with mass notification features for all fire event and non-fire events.
· The new fire alarm system will be adjusted, tested, have all communication abilities intended brought on-line and the entire system will be certified to meet the applicable code and local requirements.
· An invitation to bid for removal and replacement of the fire alarm system was issued and invitations were extended to 77 vendors.
· Sealed bids were received from three firms ranging from $1,762,945 to $2,602,450.
· Homestead Electrical Contracting, LLC. Ingleside, IL, is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder who best meets the needs of the County for a cost of $1,762,945.

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the Removal and Replacement of the Fire Alarm System for the Administrative Tower/Courts Complex, Coroner’s Office and DOT; and

WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, an Invitation to Bid was extended to 77 vendors; and

WHEREAS, sealed bids were received from three vendors and opened at the Central Permit Facility, Libertyville, Illinois, on May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.; and

WHEREAS, the existing fire alarm system for the Admin Tower and Courts Complex, Coroner’s Office and DOT facilities are beyond their useful life, replacement parts are no longer available; and
