Joint resolution accepting two Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) WIA Rapid Response Grants and authorizing an emergency appropriation totaling $165,399.
Staff Summary
· The County is in receipt of two DCEO WIA Rapid Response Grants.
· The first grant of $76,208 includes funding for staff costs related to case management services to unemployed individuals certified as eligible under the Trade Act (workers affected through fifteen plant closings or lay-offs) for the program period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2014.
· The second grant of $89,191 includes funding to support the services of the veterans who completed an eleven week work experience program for the program period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has accepted and provided two WIA Rapid Response Grants to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, the total grants for Lake County Workforce Development is $165,399; and
WHEREAS, these grants are for the program period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2014, to provide services to individuals certified under the Act; and
WHEREAS, this funding is expected to cover staff costs and direct participant support services and training costs for workers from fifteen plant closings and lay-offs and the veteran population; and
WHEREAS, a CFY'13 emergency appropriation of $165,399 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2013 budget and authorize acceptance of these grants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a CFY'13 emergency appropriation in the amount of $165,399 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIA Rapid Response Grants be accepted. A chart of accounts is attached.
