WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 4-102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for Jail Food Services for the Lake County Adult Correctional Division; and
WHEREAS, the Food Services includes the preparation of inmate meals, bag lunches for Work Release, staff meals and beverage service; and
WHEREAS, invitations for bids were extended to nine (9) vendors; and
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received from two (2) vendors and opened in the County Building, Waukegan, Illinois on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, Avainds LLC, Rosehill, MN is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for Jail Food Services in the estimated annual amount of $998,991.47; the other bidder, Aramark Correctional Foodservices, Downers Grove, IL submitted two bids, one in the amount of $1,027,075.20, and an alternate bid that was determined to be non-responsive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to enter into a two-year contract, with renewals with Avainds LLC, Rosehill, MN in the estimated amount of $998,991.47 per year for Jail Food Services chargi...
