Staff Summary
• Technological advancements have made remote work an option for many organizations and can be a viable option for some County employees.
• A study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that hybrid workers who work from home two to four days per week can reduce their carbon footprint by 11 percent to 29 percent.
• Remote work arrangements, when used appropriately, benefit both the County and the individual employee. It can often provide a greater efficiency in the use of County resources, including office space, while offering flexibility and work-life balance to employees.
• This Remote Work Policy provides employees with an opportunity to work remotely, when appropriate and operationally feasible.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, technological advancements have made remote work an option for many organizations and can be a viable option for some County employees; and
WHEREAS, remote work arrangements, when used appropriately, benefit both the County and the individual employee; and
WHEREAS, remote work can often provide a greater efficiency in the use of County resources, including office space, while offering flexibility and work-life balance to employees; and
WHEREAS, the Remote Work Policy will provide employees with an opportunity to work remotely, when appropriate and operationally feasible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the attached Remote Work Policy is hereby adopted.
