Joint resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Mettawa for contract police services.
Staff Summary
· The Lake County Sheriff's Office will provide police responses to resident call-outs and requests for emergency law enforcement services and enforcement of state statutes and Village Ordinances.
· Services provided are located within the corporate limits of the Village on a 24 hour per day, seven day per week basis, 365 days per year.
· The Village will be billed on a monthly basis, based on call averages during a billing period as defined in Schedule B - Payment Schedule.
· Special details will be handled outside of this contract.
· This contract will be for 10 years.
Body
WHEREAS, the Village of Mettawa has requested the Lake County Sheriff's Office to provide contracted police services to said Village; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff has negotiated an intergovernmental agreement with the Village relative to providing the said services; and
WHEREAS, effective April 30, 2014, the billing rate shall be $87.12 per call. From May 1, 2015 - April 30, 2016, the billing rate shall increase to $90.60 per call. From May 1, 2016 - April 30, 2017, the billing rate shall increase to $94.23 per call. For any billing period beginning May 1, 2017 and thereafter, the rate shall increase based upon actual increases in labor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chair of the Board and the Sheriff are hereby authorized to execute an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Mettawa for the purpose of providing contracted police services in the Village, effective April 30, 2014.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Village of Mettawa and the Lake County Sheriff.
