Staff Summary
* On July 14, 2026, a contract was awarded to Berger Contractors, Inc. to replace the existing exterior force main pipe that exits the Rollins Road Pump Station.
* Prior to the start of construction, Lake County Department of Public Works staff identified accelerated deterioration of the interior force main pipe within the Rollins Road Pump Station. The existing piping has exceeded its useful service life, repairs are not feasible and the piping needs to be replaced.
* Change Order Number One directs the contractor to replace the interior force main header piping and to descope Alternative Bid Number One from the original contract award, resulting in a net increase of $375,405 to the project cost. The department will use contingency funding to support the change order.
* In accordance with Section 33.082 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, when the total of change orders, contract modifications, or price adjustments on any contract approved by resolution by the County Board exceeds 10 percent of the original contract amount, approval of the standing committee in charge of the contracting department or agency and the Financial and Administrative Committee is required.
* This joint committee action authorizes and directs the Purchasing Agent to execute a contract change order with Berger Contractors, Inc., increasing the original contract value by $375,405 from $2,333,426.30 to $2,708,831.30.
