Committee action to modify Contract #90027 for Architectural and Engineering Services.
Staff Summary
· In July, 2009, the Lake County Board authorized a contract with HDR Architectural, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois for architectural and engineering design services for comprehensive remodeling of the fourth and fifth floor of the administrative tower in the amount of $279,000.
· In January, 2010 Contract Modification #1 for architectural and engineering design services for comprehensive remodeling of the second and third floors was entered into with HDR Architectural, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois in the amount of $201,000.
· Through the design process, Lake County has identified a need to consolidate record storage for the States Attorneys Office and this consolidation of records creates a deficiency in the floor loading capabilities of the Administrative Tower.
· There is a need to conduct structural analysis of the Administrative Tower, determine the extent of structural modifications required to support a consolidated records storage area, provide engineering services necessary to implement structural modifications, and monitor the installation of proposed structural reinforcement.
· HDR Architectural, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois has provided a proposal for the structural services necessary to meet these requirements.
· This change is germane to the original contract as signed, and is in the best interests of the County and authorized by law.
· In accordance with Article 8, Section 101 (1) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, it is hereby requested that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into Contract Modification #2.
· This modification will cost the County $29,900 charged to account #101-1103340-71150-000-000-000-00000.
