Joint resolution amending the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Lindenhurst to continue providing building, zoning, fire and safety code enforcement service by the Department of Planning, Building, and Development.
Staff Summary
· The County has been providing building, fire, and safety code services to the village for many years for which the County is compensated on a permit by permit basis.
· The Village evaluated the County services provided and voted to continue the service and add zoning inspections into the Intergovernmental Agreement.
· The fees were updated to reflect current costs of providing services.
· The Director of the Department has completed a study and concluded the department can continue providing service with no increase in staffing.
· The States Attorney’s Office has reviewed and approved the wording of the IGA.
· The Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee is asked to recommend approval of the resolution and forward on to the F&A Committee and the full Board for adoption.

WHEREAS, the Village of Lindenhurst, have requested that the Department of Planning, Building and Development continue to provide building, zoning, fire and safety code enforcement services; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Planning, Building and Development has determined that he can continue to provide said services to the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Planning, Building and Development has negotiated an intergovernmental agreement with the Village relative to continuing to provide said services; and
WHEREAS, the County has the authority to enter into such intergovernmental agreements with the Village pursuant to the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, 5 ILCS 220/5.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chairman of the Board is hereby authorized to execute intergovernmental agreements, in substantially the same form as the agreement attached here...
