Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program is a three year IEPA grant in the amount of $102,000. $34,000 will be appropriated in LCFY10. This will fund the Health Department to be responsible for administering and coordinating Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program activities for lakes in Lake County.

  • Varicella is a two year IDPH (ARRA) grant in the amount of $53,500. $26,750 will be appropriated in LCFY10. This will fund the Communicable Disease program to participate with 25 local schools in the monitoring and reporting of varicella activities among the school-based population.

  • D.A.S. Charitable Fund donation in the amount of $19,500. $19,500 will be appropriated in LCFY10. This will continue to fund the Animal Care and Control spay/neuter program for the pets of needy Lake county residents.

  • Women Out Walking is an IDPH mini-grant in the amount of $4,000. $4,000 will be appropriated in LCFY10. This fund will support a community walking campaign, including walking events and education for women.

  • Summer Food Program is an IDPH grant in the amount of $3,000. $3,000 will be appropriated in LCFY10. This will help fund the Health Department to act as an agent for IDPH for the purpose of implementing primarily summer school food inspections.

Suggested Motion

To accept the additional funding of $182,000 from the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and D.A.S. Charitable Funds.  If deemed necessary to authorize the Executive Director to execute an emergency appropriation or line item transfer to allow for expenditure of these funds for enhanced programming in Population Health Services.
