Resolution proclaiming February 7 - 13, 2010 as Scouting Anniversary Week and expressing the appreciation of our citizens to the Northeast Illinois Council and the Boy Scouts of America for their interest in and dedication to America’s youth.

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America has been at the forefront of instilling timeless values in youth since its founding in 1910; and
WHEREAS, this national youth movement has made serving others through its values-based program its mission; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is committed to helping millions of youth succeed by providing the support, friendship, and mentoring necessary to live a happy and fulfilling life; and
WHEREAS, the Northeast Illinois Council of the Boy Scouts of America and its 386 units of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venturing crews, Explorer posts, and Learning for Life groups are celebrating Scouting’s 100th anniversary with the theme “Celebrating the Adventure, Continuing the Journey;” and
WHEREAS, there are more than 200 community organizations that make Scouting available for more than 17,000 youth members in our area who participate in the Scouting program as a means of character building, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that we do hereby designate February 7-13, 2010, as Scouting Anniversary Week and express the appreciation of our citizens to the Northeast Illinois Council and the Boy Scouts of America for their interest in and dedication to America’s youth.
