Special recognition honoring our Military Veterans for Veterans Day 2022.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the United States recognizes servicemen and women of the military including active duty, reservists, National Guardsmen, and veterans every November 11 on Veterans Day and throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, some individuals have paid the ultimate price for freedom by sacrificing their lives for the safety and security of America; and
WHEREAS, Lake County has a unique role in our nation’s defense as the home of Great Lakes Naval Station and the Fort Sheridan Reserve Center; and
WHEREAS, the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County plays a vital role in supporting our veterans and their families by providing local resources and assistance, all at no charge to veterans and their families; and
WHEREAS, veterans who need help, whether it be advocacy, financial help, burial assistance, and more can contact the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County at 847-377-3344; and
WHEREAS, Lake County strives to ensure that veterans’ personal accounts are never forgotten and are available to future generations and will continue this tradition by inviting veterans to take part in the Veterans History Project; and
WHEREAS, Lake County will continue to support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crisis, and in war.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, that the Lake County Board honors the courage and sacrifice of all of America’s servicemen and women, especially those from Lake County, who serve in all capacities, and hopes for the safe return of those who are currently serving to defend American freedom and values.
