· This bike path will link the Hasting Lake Forest Preserve to the Lindenhurst trails system.
· The LCFPD is in the process of designing the Hastings Lake Trail system and discussions are underway to add the design for this connecting segment.
· This resolution authorizes Lake County to apply for available IDNR grant funds.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Grass Lake Road (County Highway 18) is a designated route on the county highway system; and

WHEREAS, Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation proposes to construct a bike path along the south side of Grass Lake Road from Beck Road (south) to the Hastings Lake Forest Preserve and designated as Section 09-00075-14-BT; and

WHEREAS, the construction of said bike path will serve as a critical link between Hastings Lake Forest Preserve and the Lindenhurst Park District trail system; and

WHEREAS, there are grant monies available for said bike path construction from the “Illinois Trails Grant and Aid Program” administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; and

WHEREAS, one of the requirements of said bike path grant program is for the local unit of government to provide a certification statement for project authorization and complete a grant application, a draft copy of each attached hereto.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County that the Chair of the County Board, the County Clerk and the County Engineer be authorized and they are hereby directed to file whatev...
