The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center received an increase in funding through the Illinois Department of Human Services for the Suicide Prevention Call Center Enhancement Grant in the amount of $87,533. The additional funding was awarded to expand suicide prevention intervention services and increase the program’s capacity to respond to community behavioral health needs through September 29, 2026. These funds are additional funding to the original grant award and will support program operations for the suicide prevention call center. Funding will be used for the hiring of three additional staff positions to reduce call overflow, improve answer rates, and support suicide prevention intervention services; and the grant funds will be administered in accordance with the terms and conditions of the award.
