Staff Summary
• The System and Communications Protection Policy establishes security requirements to protect Lake County IT Resources and County information, including data transmitted across networks and stored on systems and devices, to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, data compromise, and service disruption through County-approved safeguards consistent with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
• Enterprise IT developed the policy in collaboration with County stakeholders to ensure alignment and adherence to cybersecurity best practices.
• This policy was developed using County Policy 1.1: Policy Making Framework, ensuring all County departments and stakeholders had opportunity to review and provide comment.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the System and Communications Protection Policy establishes security requirements to protect Lake County IT Resources and County information, including data transmitted across networks and stored on systems and devices, to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, data compromise, and service disruption through County-approved safeguards consistent with applicable laws and regulatory requirements; and
WHEREAS, staff, in conjunction with a consultant, developed the policy ensuring alignment with best practices and County operations; and
WHEREAS, this policy was developed using County Policy 1.1: Policy Making Framework, ensuring all County departments and stakeholders had opportunity to review and provide comment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the attached Policy document is hereby adopted and shall take effect immediately.
