Ordinance enlarging the boundary of the Vernon Hills Water Service Area to include Heron's Landing Subdivision in Long Grove.

Staff Summary

·      The extension of Lake Michigan water service from the Vernon Hills water system to the Heron's Landing Subdivision in Long Grove was authorized by the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency (CLCJAWA) on August 25, 2010.

·      The County entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Long Grove on June 28, 2011 to allow for water delivery to the subdivision.

·      Construction of water mains and service connections to 118 homes is proceeding, and water service has been initiated for the first series of homes.

·      The subdivision needs to be included in the territorial limits of the service area so that CLCJAWA may levy taxes to pay for the water system.

·      This ordinance expands the water service area to include the Heron's Landing Subdivision into the CLCJAWA taxing district.
