Staff Summary

•                     Enforcement of the new Illinois Commercial Towing Law began on July 1st.

•                     The new regulations contain consumer protection and licensing provisions.

•                     Counties may vote to have the Illinois Commerce Commission be responsible for enforcement of the regulations.

•                     Upon certification by the ICC of a county’s vote, towing companies would be required to be licensed by the ICC. Licenses are renewable on a two-year cycle
