Staff Summary
* Mental health challenges impact each and every community, creating crisis situations that affect the individuals with a mental health condition, as well as their families, friends, communities, and workplaces.
* There are many strong programs and providers serving this population, and through greater community collaboration, can leverage these existing programs, collect and share data, and enhance and improve these services for our community members.
* Lake County Chairman Aaron Lawlor and former Senator Susan Garrett will lead a community based initiative focused on data-sharing and evidence-based practices to address gaps and develop a connected sustainable continuum of care on mental health.
* The group will work to address factors in communities that increase or contribute to the risk of mental illness, promoting aspects that support, expand, and enhance preventative strategies and reducing risk.
* The Coalition will consist of treatment providers from various organizations, including representatives of the County Board, other current or former elected officials, local hospitals, health department, homeless and housing agencies, education and employment agencies, consumer agencies, and law enforcement and justice.
