Title

Joint resolution accepting the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Program Year (PY) 2026 Supplemental Grant and authorizing an emergency appropriation in the amount of $149,955 for the Workforce Development Department.

 

Staff Summary

                     The Supplemental Grant has a total budget of $149,955 for a term of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

                     The projects will focus on expanding access to workforce services and career pathways for SNAP recipients, youth, and underserved communities through increased digital access, workforce kiosk, and technology support.

                     The project will strengthen the employer and small business talent pipeline by providing paid work-based learning opportunities for up to 10 participants as they transition along their career pathways.

                     The grant will fund a consultant to construct a sustainable framework to bring together data, outcomes and success stories to increase outreach to employers and key industry sectors.

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has awarded Lake County a Program Year (PY) 2026 Supplemental Grant in the amount of $149,955; and

 

WHEREAS, the initiative focuses on increasing outreach and services to SNAP recipients, youth, underserved communities and employers and expands work-based learning experiences for up to 10 participants; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant period is July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, and an emergency appropriation is required for the County Fiscal Year 2026 Budget.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the PY 2026 Supplemental Grant in the amount of $149,955 is hereby accepted and an emergency appropriation is approved.
