Committee action to ratify the implementation of the short term court facility initiative appropriated in the FY 2012 operating budget.

Staff Summary

                     In the 2012 operating budget, the Lake County Board appropriated funding for capital improvements relating to short term court facility initiative for the Waukegan Campus.

                     Implementation of one of those short term initiatives is needed including one new family courtroom, relocation of Kids Korner and capital improvements to temporarily house Court Administration who will be displaced by the courtroom and Kids Korner improvements.

                     Funding requirements will include $800,000 for the build-out of one new family court and Kids Korner along with $525,000 for improvements related to the relocation of Court Administration.

                     The capital costs for relocation of Court Administration will be offset by the lease and operational cost savings no longer required under this plan.
