Joint resolution authorizing a contract with HAIGES Machinery, Inc. of Huntley, Illinois for the emergency procurement of a replacement inmate property conveyor system in the amount of $110,600.
Staff Summary
· The inmate property conveyor is the system that provides inventory and storage for personal property of inmates housed in the Lake County Jail.
· The existing inmate property conveyor system has recently failed and it has been determined not to be economical to repair, due to age and present deteriorated condition.
· Pursuant to the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance emergency procurements are made when there is an existing threat to public health, welfare, or safety, or to prevent or minimize serious disruption of government services.
· Pursuant to Article 6, Section 103, the Facilities Manager submitted a written determination of the basis for the emergency and the certification that the selection of the contractor is appropriate.
Body
WHEREAS, There is a need to replace the inmate property conveyor system; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, Facilities Operations has declared an emergency to prevent serious disruption of government services ; and
WHEREAS, HAIGES Machinery, Inc. has submitted a proposal for the delivery and installation of the replacement inmate property conveyor system; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the County Board must approve the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into the contract with HAIGES Machinery, Inc. for the delivery and installation of the replacement inmate property conveyor system in the amount of $110,600 out of account number 725-30501000-22075.
