Staff Summary
• This agreement is a continuation of a 2009 cooperative funding arrangement between SMC and USGS.
• In a continued effort to increase our level of flood response and improve our flood preparation capabilities in Lake County, the program includes the ongoing operation, maintenance, and data reporting for the streamflow gauge on the Des Plaines River at Route 22 near Lincolnshire, IL.
• The attached JFA for this gauge includes a total local funding commitment of $52,755 for a three-year period from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2029.
• SMC is the primary local funding partner with USGS and is billed quarterly.
• USGS does not contribute any funding for this gauge.
• SMC has a cooperative funding arrangement with the Villages of Lincolnshire and Riverwoods for this gauge that is reflected in a separate agreement. The Villages of Lincolnshire and Riverwoods reimburse SMC, and the local government contributions have been shared equally since 2020.
