SPECIAL RECOGNITION


WHEREAS, Chuck Bartels was elected in 2014 to serve as the District 10 representative on the Lake County Board and the Lake County Forest Preserves District Board; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bartels earned his Master's of Education degree in Global Human Resources Development from the University of Illinois, and his Bachelor's of Science degree in Physics from John Carroll University; and

WHEREAS, throughout his service on the Lake County Board, Chuck Bartels was committed to enhancing economic development, fiscal responsibility, maintaining AAA bond rating, multi-modal transportation infrastructure and preserving natural resources and sustainability for the residents in Lake County; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bartels served as chair of the Ethics Committee, vice-chair of the Financial and Administrative Services Committee, and member of the Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, Law and Judicial Committee, and Ad-Hoc Diversity and Inclusion Committee; and

WHEREAS, as the vice-chair of the Financial and Administrative Services Committee, Chuck Bartels made significant contributions to Lake County's finances by maintaining a balanced budget, minimal debt, and AAA bond rating; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee, Chuck Bartels supported innovative shared services opportunities with local area governments and worked to improve customer service by streamlining development review and the utilization of technology improvements in the County's permitting operations; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Bartels coordinated with Planning, Building and Development and township officials in his district to effectuate stormwater management solutions to local drainage problems; and
