RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has awarded Lake County a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Apprenticeship Expansion Grant totaling $550,000; and
WHEREAS, the project focuses on employer outreach and developing and expanding registered apprenticeship programs across key industry sectors in the region; and
WHEREAS, WIOA Apprenticeship Expansion Grant funds personnel expenses, regional work and employer stipends; and
WHEREAS, the grant period is July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, and an emergency appropriation is required for the County Fiscal Year 2026 Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the WIOA Apprenticeship Expansion Grant in the amount of $550,000 is hereby accepted and an emergency appropriation is approved.
