Committee action to modify Contract #90027 for Architectural and Engineering Services.
Staff Summary
· In June of 2009, the Lake County Board authorized the application for a direct allocation of $5,658,700 under the EECBG as part of the ARRA of 2009.
· In July, 2009, the Lake County Board authorized a contract with HDR Architectural, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois for architectural and engineering design services for comprehensive remodeling of the fourth and fifth floor of the administrative tower in the amount of $279,000.
· The contract anticipated the tower renovation to be done in phases and contains a provision for amendment.
· On September 7, 2009, Lake County received program approval and award notification for Lake County’s EECBG program.
· Lake County has identified that one program area for EECBG funding shall be the Lake County Energy Efficiency Retrofit Program, including Administrative Tower Energy Retrofits.
· There is a need to issue Contract Modification #1for architectural and engineering design services for comprehensive remodeling of the second and third floors and fund the energy related components of four floors that are to be remodeled through the Lake County EECBG program.
· In accordance with Article 8, Section 101 (1) of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, it is hereby requested that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to enter into Contract Modification #1.
· This change is germane to the original contract as signed, and is in the best interests of the County and authorized by law.
· This modification will cost the County $201,000 charged to account #101-1103910-82020-000-000-000-00000.
