Joint resolution authorizing application for a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources “Illinois Trails Grant and Aid Program” for the construction of three trail section links in the Prairie Crossing Bike Path along Midlothian Road (County Highway 48) between IL Rte. 176 and Peterson Road (County Highway 20) and designated as Section 09-00171-13-BT.

• Prairie Crossing Bike Path along Midlothian Road (IL Rte. 176 to Peterson Road- 3 segments) : IDNR Grant Application
• There are three segments of the Prairie Crossing Bike Path along Midlothian Road between IL Rte. 176 and Peterson Road that presently are not connected to one another.
• Lake County now desires to construct the three trail sections between these existing three bike paths to complete the Prairie Crossing Bike Path along Midlothian Road between IL Rte. 176 and Peterson Road.
• There are grant funds available from the IDNR for these bike path constructions, and this resolution authorizes the application for said grant funds.
Body
WHEREAS, Midlothian Road (County Highway 48) is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, there presently exists three sections of the Prairie Crossing Bike Path along Midlothian Road between Illinois Route 176 and Peterson Road; and
WHEREAS, these three sections of the Prairie Crossing Bike Path along are presently not connected; and
WHEREAS, these three previously constructed segments are as follows:
1. Between Hawley Street and Illinois Route 176.
2. Between the Fremont Township library and Sheffield Avenue.
3. Along the north and south approaches at the intersection of Midlothian Road and Winchester Road; and
WHEREAS, Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation now desires to construct the three missing links of said Prairie Crossing Bike Path along Midlothian Road between Illinois Route 176 and Peterson Road and designated as Section 09-00171-13-BT; and
