Renewal of the five-year Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the County of Lake and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) for the inspection of permitted solid waste facilities in Lake County, Illinois. - Adam

 

Body

Permitted solid waste sites include active and closed landfills, transfer stations, and

compost facilities.  The agreement also authorizes inspection and enforcement of open dump sites. 

 

On February 9, 1993, the County Board authorized the execution of a Delegation Agreement with the Illinois EPA for a solid waste management site inspection and enforcement program.

 

The IGA has been renewed seven times and the current delegation agreement which was set to expire June 30, 2026. The IEPA has provided an IGA to renew the program for a five-year period, through June 30, 2031.

 

The County Board authorizes the Lake County Health Department to implement the scope of work outlined in the IGA.

 

Funding covers 80% of the program costs. The remaining 20% is covered by the County.

To approve the renewal of the five-year agreement as proposed.
