Resolution supporting and adopting the Vision Statement of the Land Conservation Partners of Lake County.
Staff Summary
· The Land Conservation Partners of Lake County is comprised of 16 governmental, private and non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving open space.
· The Land Conservation Partners of Lake County have identified that 39,344 acres, or 13.4% of Lake County, have been protected presently as conservation open space.
· The Land Conservation Partners have developed a Vision for Lake County which is: “To realize a Lake County landscape where, by 2030, at least 20 percent of the County is preserved forever as natural areas, parks, trails, farmland, and scenic views.”
· Staff is requesting the Committee recommend to the County Board adoption of the attached Resolution supporting and adopting the Vision Statement of the Land Conservation Partners.

WHEREAS, the Lake County Board adopted a Strategy for a Sustainable Lake County in 2009, with the purpose of promoting environmentally sustainable practices so that Lake County future generations of residents and businesses can continue to enjoy a high quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the Strategy for a Sustainable Lake County identifies Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability Goals of: maintaining clean air, protecting ecosystems, supporting ecologically-sensitive land use practices, ensuring adequate groundwater supplies, restoring high quality surface waters, and enhancing open space resources; and
WHEREAS, the Strategy for a Sustainable Lake County recognizes the need to partner with other public, private, and not-for-profit community members to accomplish sustainability goals; and
WHEREAS, Sixteen governmental and non-profit partners have formed a coalition, called the Land Conservation Partners of Lake County; and
