· This is a Phase II contract to assess accommodations for non-motorized travel on the county highway system and provide recommended policies for future accommodations to be encompassed within highway improvement projects.
· This resolution authorizes the execution of a professional services agreement with CH2M Hill, Inc., Chicago, Illinois.

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, non-motorized travel on the county highway system affects the safety and welfare of the motoring public; and

WHEREAS, non-motorized travel on the county highway system is increasing as the county becomes more urbanized; and

WHEREAS, locations and levels of accommodations for non-motorized travel on the county highway system are varied and not presently quantified; and

WHEREAS, Lake County by and through its Division of Transportation desires to inventory and assess the existing level of accommodations for non-motorized travel on the county highway system and develop policies for the provision of routine accommodations into future county highway improvement projects; and

WHEREAS, Lake County, by formal agreement dated February 12, 2009, with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), has been granted federal Unified Work Program funds in the maximum amount of $150,000 to reimburse the county for 80% of the cost of said study; and

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a consulting engineering firm be employed to provide professional services for said study and development of policy; and
