R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the various contracts for the supply of salt for the 2008 - 2009 winter season were awarded on an emergency basis to Mid Atlantic Salt, LLC., Lydora, Pennsylvania, Peterson Salt and Water, Minnetonka, Minnesota, Conserve FS, Woodstock, Illinois, Central Salt, Elgin, Illinois and International Salt Company, Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the said salt supply companies have, or are in the process of, fulfilling their contractual obligations for the county’s initial estimated supply need of salt for the 2008-2009 winter season; and
WHEREAS, on January 13, 2009, there existed an immediate need for additional ice control salt to maintain an adequate supply for the remainder of the 2008-2009 winter season; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the County Engineer of Lake County declared that an emergency existed; and
WHEREAS, this County Board at its meeting of January 22, 2009, appropriated a supplemental $650,000 of Motor Fuel Tax funds to provide for the acquisition of additional ice control salt and designated as Section 09-00000-00-GM; and
