Report on CLCJAWA Expansion to Long Grove and Mettawa.
Staff Summary
• The County received separate requests from the Villages of Long Grove and Mettawa to receive CLCJAWA Lake Michigan water through extensions of Lake County water systems.
• The County forwarded these requests to CLCJAWA in December 2009.
• The Long Grove request is to connect the Heron’s Landing subdivision, consisting of 122 single-family homes, to the County’s Vernon Hills water system.
• The Mettawa request is to connect 227 properties throughout the Village, to the County’s Knollwood water system.
• At their June 2010 Board of Directors meeting, CLCJAWA authorized the connection of the Long Grove and Mettawa properties to the County’s water systems, subject to a $2,564 connection fee per home.
• Both Long Grove and Mettawa have indicated that they may request construction of water systems for these properties as part of a Village Special Service Areas (SSA).
