Staff Summary
• The Lake County Clerk’s Office, in coordination with the Lake County Finance and Administrative Services Department, completed a study of the fees associated with plat of subdivision certification payments.
• The study concluded that the average cost per certification ranged from $5.65 to $6.02. The fee is currently $1.00.
• The Lake County Clerk’s Office and the Finance and Administrative Services Department recommend that the fee be increased from $1.00 to $5.00.
• The recommended rate increase will be effective December 1, 2009.
Body
WHEREAS, the current plat of subdivision certification fee is set at the statutory minimum of $1.00 and is paid to the County Clerk’s Office upon certification of the plat of subdivision; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Clerk’s Office, in coordination with the Finance and Administrative Services (FAS) Department, completed a study of the current costs associated with certifying a plat of subdivision in Lake County, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the study found the plat of subdivision certification to range from $5.65 to $6.02 on average; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Lake County Clerk’s Office, FAS, the Revenue, Records and Legislation and Finance and Administration Committees that the plat of subdivision certification fee be increased to $5.00; and
WHEREAS, it is the joint recommendation of said departments and committees that the above rate become effective December 1, 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the fee for a certification of a plat of subdivision from the Lake County Clerk’s Office shall be $5.00 effective December 1, 2009.
