Irene Pierce is the recipient of the 2008 George M. O’Neill Leadership Award presented by the Illinois Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) on Friday, October 10, 2008. This statewide award is presented annually to an individual who is a visionary and whose leadership has empowered and inspired staff at one of Illinois’ community health centers.
Bruce Johnson, IPHCA’s President and Chief Executive Officer, credits Irene’s passion for helping underserved populations, her vision for planned growth and development, passion for patient-centered care, and undying commitment to increasing access to care as the reasons that she was selected for this award.
Established in 1982, IPHCA is a nonprofit trade association representing Illinois’ community health centers that operate more than 350 primary care sites in Illinois and bordering states. Irene will receive the award during IPHCA’s Annual Leadership Conference in Galena, Illinois.
