Staff Summary
· Lake County wishes to participate in a Community Maps Program through ESRI in order to provide a seamless region wide basemap.
· Various users inside and outside of Lake County government, including other units of government, the local business community and the general public will be able to use the online maps at no cost.
· The map data will be hosted and maintained by ESRI at one or more data centers in the U.S. to ensure high availability and performance and data redundancy in case of failure or disaster.
· Participation in the program avoids the costs associated with making the data widely available, such as setting up and maintaining the infrastructure.
· Participation in this program will support open government, provide cost effective access to high quality authoritative online map data and promote the development of public or private online mapping applications.

WHEREAS, Lake County wishes to participate in a Community Maps Program, with Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) in order to provide a seamless region wide basemap; and

WHEREAS, various users inside and outside of Lake County government, including other units of government, the local business community and the general public will be able to use the online maps at no cost; and
