Staff Summary
· This is an application for grant monies from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant Program. This funding supports a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system.
· Under this program the City of Waukegan and the County of Lake on behalf of the Lake County State’s Attorneys Office are eligible for a joint award of $19,896 in FFY2008 grant monies.
· The potential allocation of the eligible funds is $5,172 to the County of Lake on behalf of the State’s Attorneys Office and $14,724 to the City of Waukegan.
· The State’s Attorneys Office will use the $5,172 to enhance the domestic violence program (see budget proposal and budget narrative).

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the County of Lake on behalf of the Lake County State’s Attorneys Office and the City of Waukegan has applied for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant that provides grant monies to local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system; and
