· DCEO notified Workforce Development of a grant modification to its existing WIA Rapid Response Grant.

· This funding is used for case management services to unemployed individuals certified as eligible under the Trade Act for the program period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2014.
· Eligible individuals are those workers who were affected by fifteen plant closings or lay-offs.

WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided a grant modification to the WIA Rapid Response Grant to the Lake County Workforce Development Department; and,
WHEREAS, the total grant modification for Lake County Workforce Development is $60,150; and
WHEREAS, these grants are for the program period July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2014, to provide case management services to individuals certified under the Act; and
WHEREAS, this funding is expected to cover staff costs for case management of workers from fifteen plant closings and lay-offs and the veteran population; and
WHEREAS, a CFY'13 emergency appropriation of $60,150 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's county fiscal year 2013 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a CFY'13 emergency appropriation in the amount of $60,150 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the WIA Rapid Response Grant modification be accepted. A chart of accounts is attached.
