Construction of Second Salt Dome at the Division of Transportation: Contract Award
· The Division of Transportation has one 10,000-ton capacity salt dome situated at its yard in Libertyville constructed in 1992.
· This salt storage has proven to be inadequate to maintain salt inventory sufficient to deal with the snow and ice control needs of recent winters and the increase in county highway lane miles since 1992.
· The construction of a second salt dome will be funded partially by the county Capital Improvement Program fund in the amount of $600,000 and the remainder from County Motor Fuel Tax funds.
· One bid was received; the sole responsible bidder is Dome Corporation of North America, Saginaw, Michigan in the amount of $889,650.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, pursuant to authority granted by this Board of Lake County, the County Engineer heretofore called for sealed bids by publication contract for the construction of a second salt dome at the Division of Transportation yard in Libertyville and designated as Section 08-00214-17-MG; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said publication calling for said bids, a sealed bid was received and opened on July 15, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at the Lake County Division of Transportation in Libertyville, Illinois, said bid being as follows:
Dome Corporation of North America Saginaw, MI.……………… $889,650.00
WHEREAS, the Public Works and Transportation Committee, the County Engineer, and the Purchasing Director have examined the bid, and it appears that the lowest responsible bidder is Dome Corporation of North America, Saginaw, Michigan, their lump sum bid being $889,650.00; and
