Staff Presentation of Performed Stream Maintenance for the Mill Creek Tributary in Old Mill Creek, Illinois.

 

Staff Summary

•                     Debris jams in Old Mill Creek were causing an interjurisdictional impact to US Route 45 stormwater infrastructure and elevating normal water levels and reducing available flood storage in a detention basin in the Falling Waters Subdivision in Lindenhurst, Illinois.

•                     Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/5-1062(j), Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) issued a written 10-day notice of planned stream maintenance work.

•                     Stream maintenance work was conducted between September 23rd, 2026 and September 25th, 2026 and debris was removed from the property.

•                     SMC staff will continue to monitor this location periodically and are coordinating with the Illinois Department of Transportation to address remaining maintenance concerns in US Route 45 right-of-way.
