Resolution initiating the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign, and appointing Joy Gossman, Public Defender, as chair of the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign.
 
Body
      WHEREAS, Lake County government has traditionally conducted an annual Employee Workplace Giving Campaign; and
 
      WHEREAS, the United Way of Lake County is the Campaign Manager for the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign; and
 
      WHEREAS, Section 125/5 of the Government Salary Withholding Act, 50 ILCS 125/0.01 et seq., authorizes this County Board to provide for Lake County employee payroll deductions for contribution to the United Way Fund and to other organizations found qualified by the State Comptroller pursuant to the Voluntary Payroll Deductions Act of 1983, 5 ILCS 340/1 et seq.; and
 
      WHEREAS, it is fitting that the Kickoff of the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign be appropriately commemorated by this County Board.
 
      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this the County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that we do hereby commemorate the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign; and
 
      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we do hereby initiate the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign; and
 
      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Joy Gossman, Public Defender, will act as chairman of the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign; and
 
      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the United Way of Lake County will serve as Campaign Manager, in cooperation with and under the administrative guidance of Human Resources, for the annual workplace giving campaign and serve as fiscal agent.  All communication with other eligible organizations will be handled through the Campaign Manager.
 
      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that organizations that are eligible to participate in the Illinois State Employee Campaign may be designated by County of Lake employees to receive contributions from the 2008 Lake County Employee Workplace Giving Campaign.  All undesignated gifts will be allocated to the United Way of Lake County.
 
      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the opportunity for payroll deduction or individual contributions to all eligible organizations will be made available to employees.
 
      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we do recognize and commend the outstanding efforts of all county employees who quietly and faithfully dedicate themselves to the improvement of the quality of life for others through their volunteer work and contributions to this campaign.
