Joint resolution authorizing an agreement between Lake County and Civiltech Engineering Inc., Itasca, Illinois, for the provision of Phase II design engineering services for the proposed Fremont Center Road extension at a maximum cost of services described as $606,760, appropriating $730,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for these engineering services, and designating as Section 12-00138-02-FP.

 

Staff Summary

                     Fremont Center Road Extension; Phase II: Consultant Agreement and Appropriation.

                     This project includes constructing a three lane extension for Fremont Center Road, from Illinois Route 60 to a proposed intersection with Peterson Road.

                     A consultant will be utilized to complete Phase II design engineering services.

                     The selected, and recommended, firm is Civiltech Engineering, Inc., Itasca, Illinois, for a maximum cost of services described as $606,760.

                     This resolution appropriates $730,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds.

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Fremont Center Road (County Highway 62) is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Fremont Center Road, from Illinois Route 60 to a proposed intersection with Peterson Road (County Highway 20), could be improved to provide increased traffic capacities; and

 

WHEREAS, it is advisable that a consultant engineering firm be employed to provide said Phase II design engineering services; and

 

WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act (50 ILCS 510/1 et. seq.); and

 

WHEREAS, Civiltech Engineering Inc., Itasca, Illinois, are consulting engineers skilled in the provision of said Phase II design engineering services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that Civiltech Engineering Inc., Itasca, Illinois, be employed to provide said Phase II design engineering services, and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, an agreement for consultant engineering services between Lake County and Civiltech Engineering Inc., Itasca, Illinois, for a maximum cost of services described as $606,760, a draft copy of which is attached hereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement to be executed by the Chair of the Lake County Board and the County Clerk.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $730,000 of ¼% Sales Tax for Transportation and Public Safety funds for these engineering services, and designated as Section 12-00138-02-FP.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated does not exceed the appropriation provided.
