SPECIAL RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS, Craig Taylor was appointed to the Lake County Board and Lake County Forest Preserves District Board in 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, Craig Taylor serves District 19, representing Lake Zurich, Barrington, Deer Park, Kildeer and portions of Long Grove, and focused on stormwater management, transportation, fiscal responsibility and transparency; and

 

WHEREAS, Craig Taylor currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Ethics and Oversight Committee and member of the Financial and Administrative Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, Craig Taylor has been an instrumental advocate for enhancing safety and reducing traffic congestion on Lake County’s transportation system. He served as the pivotal link between Lake County and the local community during projects such as the Quentin Road widenings and the Hart Road at US 14 intersection improvement. His work on transportation will be appreciated long after he retires from the County Board as he has also helped gather local support for projects that will be constructed in future years such as improvements at the intersections of Ela and Long Grove Road and Miller Road and US 12, and widening IL 22 from Quentin Road to IL 83; and

 

WHEREAS, he played a prominent leadership role in working with the villages of Hawthorn Woods and North Barrington to develop an intergovernmental agreement for land use, infrastructure and sales tax-sharing to accommodate a regional mixed use development at the corner of IL Route 12 and Old McHenry Road. This project agreement represents a major accomplishment in intergovernmental partnership with municipal counterparts; and

 

WHEREAS, in support of the County’s shared services goals, he also played a leadership role in setting the stage for an intergovernmental agreement between the County and Village of Lake Zurich for plan review and inspection services. Lake Zurich is now one of the Planning, Building and Development Department’s most active municipal clients; and

 

WHEREAS, since 2014, Craig Taylor has provided exemplary leadership as Chair of the Stormwater Management Commission, working tirelessly on behalf of all County residents and business owners to effectuate stormwater management solutions to local, regional, and interstate drainage problems; and

 

WHEREAS, Craig Taylor has served in various civic roles, including trustee for the Village of Lake Zurich, member of the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and founding member of the Lake Zurich and Nittenau, Germany, Sister Cities Partnership; and

 

WHEREAS, a long-time Lake Zurich resident, Craig Taylor and his wife Pam raised three children.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RECOGNIZED, that this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, offers its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Craig Taylor for his years of outstanding and dedicated public service to his community and to the citizens of Lake County; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RECOGNIZED, that the County Board offers its best wishes to Craig Taylor in all his future endeavors.
