·      There are two retaining walls on Fairfield Road, one situated 2000 feet north of Illinois Route 60, another situated 1150 feet south of Townline Road, and a third retaining wall on Lewis Avenue, situated 400 feet south of Russell Road.
·      Each of these retaining walls are in poor condition and are in need of repairs.
·      Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois was selected pursuant to Local Government Professional Services Selection Act.
·      This resolution authorizes the execution of the agreement with Bloom Companies, LLC, and appropriates $205,000 of Matching Tax funds for these services.

R E S O L U T I O N
 
WHEREAS, Fairfield Road (County Highway 49) and Lewis Avenue (County Highway 27) are designated routes on the County highway system; and
 
WHEREAS, there are two retaining walls on Fairfield Road, one situated 2000 feet north of Illinois Route 60, another situated 1150 feet south of Townline Road, and a third retaining wall on Lewis Avenue situated 400 feet south of Russell Road; and  
 
WHEREAS, each of these retaining walls are in poor condition and are in need of repairs in order to prevent failure; and
 
WHEREAS, it is advisable that a firm be employed to provide professional services to determine appropriate repair strategies for said retaining walls; and
      
WHEREAS, Lake County, by and through its Division of Transportation, has selected a professional engineering services firm, Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois, in accordance with the Local Government Professional Services Selection Act, for said repairs to these retaining walls.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY this Lake County Board, that Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois, be employed to provide professional services for the repairs of said retaining walls along Fairfield Road and Lewis Avenue and that the County Board Chair, the County Clerk and the Acting County Engineer of Lake County are authorized and they are directed to execute, on behalf of Lake County, a contract, for the provision of said engineering services for the repairs of said retaining walls, with Bloom Companies, LLC, Chicago, Illinois.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Acting County Engineer shall transmit, in writing, the final agreement to be executed by the County Board Chair and the County Clerk.   
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated $205,000 of Matching Tax funds for these engineering services designated as Section 13-00000-07-GM.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this agreement be administered in accordance with Chapter 605, Act 5, Section 5-205.2 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes without further Board action providing the final contract cost chargeable under the funds appropriated herein does not exceed the appropriation aforesaid.
