Staff Summary

•                     This past spring, Senator Adriane Johnson worked to secure $1,500,000 in funds towards an operating grant for Lake County State's Attorney's Office from IDHS for the Gun Violence Prevention Initiative.

•                     Funding was appropriated through the State of Illinois for a twelve-month period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

•                     LCSAO will use these funds to cover 100 percent of the salary and benefits of the four Gun Violence Prevention Initiative (GVPI) staff, printed materials and other outreach supplies and a subaward to the Waukegan Township for the GVPI Peacemaker services.

•                     If funding for the positions and services end, and new funding is not secured, the positions and services will be eliminated.
