· Pulaski Drive Bridge Underdeck Repair: Emergency Contract Award: Confirmation
· A recent bridge inspection by County engineers showed numerous areas of cracks and spalls on the underside of the bridge. The deck itself is in good structural condition.
· Structural engineers, Bloom Companies, LLC, were hired to determine the extent of delaminated areas on the underside of the bridge, make recommendations on repairs, and provide a cost estimate for the repairs.
· Emergency repairs and the placing of underdeck shielding was recommended.
· The County Engineer certified an emergency procurement and the Purchasing Agent issued a purchase order for the emergency repair work.
· The selected contractor vendor is Dunnet Bay Construction, Glendale Heights, IL with a contract amount of $85,635 and is changed from 08-0196-08-BR to 10-0196-08-BR.
· This resolution, per the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance Sec. 6-103, ratifies the emergency procurement.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Pulaski Drive (County Highway 13) is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, inspections by Lake County engineering staff identified areas of cracks and spalls on the underside of the Pulaski Drive bridge over US Rte 41; and
WHEREAS, Bloom Companies, LLC (structural engineers) was hired to determine the extent of delaminated areas on the underside of the of the Pulaski Drive bridge over US Rte. 41 and make recommendations on repairs and provide a cost estimate for the repairs ; and
WHEREAS, inspections and estimates of costs for this repair are complete; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of said underdeck repairs and placing permanent underdeck shielding is now estimated to be $85,635.00; and
WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois on August 10, 2010 appropriated $110,000 of County Bridge Tax funds for the underdeck repairs and placing of permanent underdeck shielding in some areas of the Pulaski Drive bridge over US Rte 41 and designated as Section 08-00196-08-BR, and the County Board acknowledged that the needed repairs would be done in an expedited fashion; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6-103 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the County Engineer of Lake County declared that an emergency existed and in order to address said emergency the Purchasing Agent issued a purchase order to Dunnet Bay Construction, Glendale Heights, IL for underdeck repairs and placing permanent underdeck shielding in some areas of the Pulaski Drive Bridge over US Rte 41; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the emergency procurement authorized by the County Engineer with Dunnet Bay Construction, Glendale Heights, IL in the estimated amount of $85,635.00 is ratified.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Section # is changed from 08-0196-08-BR to 10-0196-08-BR.
