Staff Summary
· SimplexGrinnell fire alarm monitoring systems have been installed at the following facilities: Winchester House, 911 Center, Juvenile Detention Facility, Probation Office, Lake County Jail and Work Release Tower.
· The hardware and software maintenance agreements from the original installation of the equipment at the various locations has expired.
· To maintain the current level of service for the equipment there is a need for ongoing annual testing and an extended warranty of hardware and software maintenance for the fire alarm system.
· SimplexGrinnell, Addison, IL is the manufacturer of the system and the only source that can perform the maintenance service.
· The Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of sole source.
· This service agreement will cost an annual amount of $64,169.

WHEREAS, a SimplexGrinnell fire alarm monitoring system has been installed at the following six facilities: Winchester House, 911 Center, Juvenile Detention Facility, Probation Office, Lake County Jail and Lake County Work Release; and
WHEREAS, the hardware and software maintenance agreements from the original installation of the equipment at the various locations has expired; and
WHEREAS, to maintain the current level of service for the equipment there is a need for ongoing annual testing, extended warranty of hardware and software maintenance for the fire alarm system; and
WHEREAS, SimplexGrinnell, Addison, IL is the manufacturer of the system and the only source that can perform maintenance service; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group and determined that this purchase is exempt from bidding on the basis of sole source.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a two-year agreement, with renewal options with SimplexGrinnell, Addison, IL for the Fire Alarm Service and Maintenance for various County facilities in the amount of $64,169, charged to #101-1220030-72280.
