Staff Summary

                     Quentin Road, US Route 12 to Illinois Route 22, Add-Lanes: Change Order No. 2: Supplemental Appropriation.

                     Additional Phase I engineering services are necessitated for environmental assessments, hydraulic analysis, and highway noise analysis.

                     The original appropriation of $750,000 of Matching Tax funds needs to be supplemented by $45,000 to cover Change Order No. 2.

 

Body

R E S O L U T I O N

 

WHEREAS, Quentin Road (County Highway 5) is a designated route on the County highway system; and

 

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial for the safety and welfare of the motoring public if Quentin Road, from north of US Route 12 to south of Illinois Route 22, could be improved by widening; and  

 

WHEREAS, Phase I preliminary engineering studies are required for the proposed Quentin Road widening; and

 

WHEREAS, this Lake County Board, at its meeting of January 20, 2009, authorized the execution of a professional engineering agreement with Civiltech Engineering Inc., Chicago, Illinois, for said professional engineering services and appropriated $750,000 of Matching Tax funds for these engineering services; and

 

WHEREAS, it has been determined that additional engineering services are required for revisions to the original scope of work for the above-proposed improvement; and                     

 

WHEREAS, the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance requires the Public Works and Transportation Committee and the Finance and Administrative Committee to approve change orders with cumulative totals above 10% of the original contract.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Lake County Board, that a supplemental appropriation of $45,000 of Matching Tax funds is hereby authorized for the Phase I preliminary engineering services for the widening of Quentin Road, from North of US Route 12 to South of Illinois Route 22 as Section 08-00090-12-ES. 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution being presented to the County Board for approval, the Public Works and Transportation Committee and the Finance and Administrative Committee, hereby have approved Change Order No. 2.
